Introduction
The Indian Institutes of Technology are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament. These Institutes play a leading role in technological manpower development and conduct research programs. The institute is present in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee.

The admissions to the Undergraduate Programs for all Indian and Foreign nationals at these institutions are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Apart from the seven IITs admission to undergraduate courses of IT-BHU, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad is also done through the Joint Engineering Entrance Exam.


Pattern of JEE 2010:
Each of the above two question papers would consist of three sections on Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry and the questions will be of objective type in nature designed to test the comprehension and analytical ability of the candidates. Incorrect answer would attract negative marking.

Candidates called for counseling but desirous of joining the B.Arch. and B.Des. Courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at each counseling institute. The test will consist of two papers, each of two hours duration – from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, and from 2.00 pm to 4:00 pm. Candidates who fail to qualify in the Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to either B.Arch. or B.Des Courses. Question papers for aptitude test for B.Arch and B.Des will be in English only.


Eligibility:
Candidates appearing in (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in 2009 must secure at least 60% (55% for SC/ST and PD) marks in aggregate in their respective Board Examination.

In case of respective Boards award letter grades, without providing a norm for converting them to equivalent percentage marks, the norms decided by the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE shall be final.

A student can have only two attempts to write JEE. Candidates who join any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi, and Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad through IIT JEE - 2010 will not be permitted to appear in JEE in future.

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1984 are eligible for IIT JEE 2010. However, in case of SC/ST, PD candidates the upper age limit is relaxed by five years i.e., SC/ST and PD Candidates who have born on or after October 1, 1979 are eligible.

Application procedure:
One can submit an online application form from any of the websites of IIT.

For off line applications, one can buy an application form with information brochure from any of the designated branches of banks by paying Rs. 500/ for SC/ST and Female candidates or Rs 1000/ for all other candidates that would contain all relevant information for JEE 2010.

BITSAT 2010

Introduction
The Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences conducts BITS admission Test or BITSAT for admission to its Integrated First Degree Programmes that are offered at its Goa, Pilani and Hyderabad campuses.

The integrated First degree Programmes include BE. (Hons), B. Pharm (Hons), MSc. (Hons), Msc. (Tech) degrees. BITSAT is an online Test. Candidates who have passed their 12th standard in 2008 or earlier are not eligible for appearing in BITSAT 2010. In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT 2010, candidates also need to apply to BITS giving details of their 12th exam. The selection of the candidates is made entirely on the basis of merit.


Eligibility criteria for BITSAT 2010

Those who are appearing for the 12th standard are eligible for taking the BITSAT 2010. For admission to the B.E. (Hons) courses, through BITSAT 2010, one need to have a minimum aggregate of 80 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at lest 60% in each of the subjects.

For admission to the B. Pharm (Hons) and M.Sc. (Hons) Biological Sciences, candidates need to pass the 12th standard with a minimum aggregate of 80 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology and at lest 60% in each of the subjects. Candidates are also expected to have adequate proficiency in English and they would have to decide whether they wish to appear for Mathematics or Biology subject in BITSAT, 2010.

Application Procedure

One can get the online application form from the website www.bitsadmission.com/BITSAT.

Candidates need to take out the print out of the filled form and send the completed application forms along with the prescribed fees of Rs. 800/ (Rs. 400/ for female candidates) to Admissions Officer, BITS Pilani-333 031.

You can also send the request for the application form on a plain paper mentioning name & gender to Admissions Officer, BITS Pilani-333 031. The request should be accompanied by a crossed demand draft of Rs.900 (Rs 500 for female candidates) drawn in favor of Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences payable at State Bank of India, Zuari Nagar, GOA (1976) or State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, Pilani, (Code: 0150) or UCO Bank, Vidya Vihar, Pilani (0150). The request for forms should be sent only by Speed post/ Registered post.

Introduction

A Common Entrance Test, designated as Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test – 2010 (EAMCET – 2010) of Andhra Pradesh will be conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad on behalf of APSCHE for entry into the first year of the following professional courses offered for the academic year 2010-2011 in various government and private colleges of Andhra Pradesh. The various courses, which you can enroll in are as follows:

Eligibility

The minimum qualification to appear for EAMCET-2010 is:

For admission to the Engineering, B.Pharmacy (M.P.C), B.Tech Dairying, B.Tech (Ag.Engineering), B.Tech (Food Science and Technology) (FS&T), B.Sc (Commercial Agri & Business Mgt) (CA&BM) courses, candidates should have passed or appeared in the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional or related vocational courses in the fields of Engineering and Technology, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh or candidates should have passed or appeared at the final year of the Diploma examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, A.P.

In the case of Engineering, Pharmacy courses, candidates should have completed 16 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit. In the case of B.Tech Dairying, B.Tech (Ag.Engineering), B.Tech (FS&T) and B.Sc (CA & BM) offered in Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates and 25 years in respect of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates as on 31st December of the year of Admissions.


2. Candidates seeking admission to agricultural and medicine courses through EAMCET 2010 should appear for Biology, Physics and Chemistry in EAMCET-2010 (AM Category).

A. For admission to MBBS/BDS Courses through EAMCET 2010, candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of the Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optionals which shall include a practical test in these subjects,or any examination (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects, recognized as equivalent to Intermediate by the Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad.

Candidates should have completed 17 yrs of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 yrs for all the candidates and 25 yrs in respect of SC/ST candidates as on 31st December of the year of admissions.

B. For admission to B.Pharm Courses through EAMCET 2010, candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of the Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology optionals, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized by the Board of Intermediate Education as equivalent thereto. They should have completed 16 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit.

C. For admission to B.Tech courses through EAMCET 2010 candidates should have pursued or appeared for the final year of Intermediate examination (10+2 pattern) with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optional along with the bridge course examination in Mathematics conducted by Board of Intermediate Education, Govt. of A.P shall be eligible.
